At a press conference in Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Russia may consider opportunities for cooperation with the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project, but its active participation is not under discussion. This was reported by the Interfax agency.
Mirzoyan emphasized: "There has been no discussion about Russia's participation in the project. The goals and framework of TRIPP have already been established. However, the unblocking of transport communications is beneficial for both close and more distant neighbors."
The minister added that Armenia does not seek to exclude Russia from its plans. He noted that Russia is present on Armenian territory in various infrastructure projects, such as railways, which could open new opportunities for cooperation with TRIPP.
After meeting with Mirzoyan, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the TRIPP project provides Armenia with an opportunity for economic growth and business development, while not violating its sovereignty.
This project envisions connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan through Armenian territory, proposing the construction of a 42 km road in the south of the republic.
Additionally, Armenia and the United States have reached an agreement to establish a joint venture to develop transport routes within the framework of the TRIPP project.
