Mikhail Fedorov
As the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mikhail Fedorov replaced Denys Shmyhal, who held this position since July 2025. According to local media, Shmyhal may take the position of Minister of Energy. Fedorov previously headed the Ministry of Digital Transformation and served as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Before the parliamentary vote, he noted that his top priority would be to conduct a financial audit in the Ministry of Defense. "We need to understand how to act this year, when the ministry received 300 billion hryvnias less than last year," he emphasized.
Additionally, Fedorov promised to reform the military training system. "Quality training is the key to reducing losses and increasing efficiency. The problem of the TCC cannot remain unaddressed. We will conduct a comprehensive audit and propose systemic solutions to eliminate the accumulated problems while maintaining the country's defense capability," he added.
On January 13, Ukrainian deputies also voted for the resignation of Vasyl Maliuk from the position of head of the SBU, with Yevhen Khmara becoming the new interim head of the agency.
