A $100 Million Project Aimed at Strengthening Mongolia's Resilience to Natural Disasters

Currently, a meeting of the leadership is taking place, during which the priorities and operational directions of the Emergency Situations Agency for 2026 are being determined.

In order to enhance the country's resilience, especially regarding natural disasters, the government has decided to launch a project called "Strengthening Resilience to Natural Disasters in Mongolia." On November 4, 2025, a framework funding program was presented to the Asian Development Bank, which received approval from the Great State Khural in December.

The project, valued at $100 million, will be aimed at increasing the number of equipment and machinery for search and rescue operations and emergency recovery. Officials noted that the initiative will also focus on improving disaster preparedness and strengthening the capacities of local authorities and communities to respond to such situations.

Despite the growing number of natural disasters and emergencies, the Emergency Situations Agency successfully fulfills its core functions, including prevention, rescue, and mitigation. In 2025, the agency achieved its annual goals and received an "A" rating with an efficiency of 94.1 percent based on its performance.
