JICA signed the SATREPS protocol in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar.

On January 8, in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, a protocol of discussions was signed for the project "Creation of a Digital Network Platform for Integrated Modeling Aimed at Assessing the Resilience of Ecosystems of Pastures and the Gobi Desert to the Impact of Climate Change and Anthropogenic Activities." This event was part of the SATREPS program organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The documents were signed by three participants: Batbold Munkhtur, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Economy and Development of Mongolia; Sodnomsambuu Demberel, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences; and Tokudji Yoshimura, Senior Representative of JICA in Mongolia.

The project represents a collaborative research effort involving Yamaguchi University and the Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technologies of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The main goal of the initiative is to develop sensor technologies for integrating satellite data and information collected on-site in the pasture lands of Mongolia that are prone to desertification. The project also aims to create methods and mechanisms for assessing the resilience of ecosystems to changes caused by human activities and climate, which will enable monitoring of ecosystems in pasture areas.
