The President of Germany stated that the USA is destroying the world order
Steinmeier emphasized that global democracy is under threat, which is particularly relevant in light of recent events, such as the attempt to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Although these words were spoken by a president whose role is mainly ceremonial, they carry significant resonance and reflect his free expression of opinions on important issues.
In his view, the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the military actions in Ukraine have become a turning point, and the actions of the United States represent yet another historical turning point. "Among other things, we are witnessing how our most important partner, the United States, is undermining the values that contributed to the creation of this world order," he noted during his speech at a symposium on Wednesday evening.
Steinmeier also added that it is necessary to prevent the world from turning into a "den of robbers," where immoral actors take whatever they please, and regions and countries become the property of a few great powers. In conditions of global instability, active measures, he said, must be taken to convince countries like Brazil and India of the importance of protecting the world order.
