The Paris court found eight men and two women, aged between 41 and 65, guilty. The court emphasized the "particularly humiliating, offensive, and malicious" comments, particularly regarding rumors about Brigitte Macron's transgender identity, as well as claims that she allegedly was born a man.
The defendants were also accused of spreading "numerous malicious comments" related to accusations against the First Lady of pedophilia, which became a topic of discussion due to the age difference between her and her 48-year-old husband, French President Emmanuel Macron.
During the court hearing, Tifenn Ozier, Brigitte Macron's youngest daughter, noted that the false accusations negatively affected her mother's health. "She has to constantly monitor her image—what to wear, how to behave, to avoid distortions in perception," she emphasized, adding that these issues also affect the entire family, including the grandchildren.
Prosecutors demanded suspended sentences ranging from three to 12 months and fines of up to €8,000. The strictest measures were requested for three defendants whom the prosecution considers "instigators." Among them are 41-year-old writer Aurélien Poirson-Atlan, known by the pseudonym "Zoé Sagan," as well as 56-year-old Bertrand Scholler and 51-year-old Delphine Jegousse, known as "Amadine Roua" and who positions herself as a medium.
