How did players from the Higher League perform in foreign national teams? Overview, video
As part of the March FIFA window, Turkmenistan's national team included forward Mikhail Titov from the club "Özgöna" and midfielder Teimur Chariyev from "Barsy." They faced the Thailand team, where a spot in the final stage of the Asian Cup was at stake.
The Thais opened the scoring first in the match, but the players from the Joghorku League quickly equalized. Titov, making a pass to Chariyev, allowed the latter to score from distance — 1:1.
This goal secured Turkmenistan a place in the Asian Cup, but in the 89th minute, the Thais scored the decisive goal and snatched victory, leaving the Turkmen national team without a spot.
Midfielder Garrett Kelly from "Alay" was also called up to the Sri Lanka national team to participate in the qualifying match for the Asian Cup against Chinese Taipei. This match had no tournament significance, and Kelly's team won with a score of 3:1.
Kelly played all 90 minutes on the field and even provided an assist.
Additionally, midfielder Alexey Saveliev from "Asia" was called up to the Latvia national team. His team played two matches against Gibraltar, fighting for survival in Group C of the UEFA Nations League. The Latvians secured two narrow victories with a score of 1:0, however, Saveliev did not take to the field in either game, remaining on the bench.
