Vadim Kornilov, manager of Dmitry Bivol, shared with "Match TV" that there was a possibility to hold a fight with Michael Aiferth in Egypt, the USA, Germany, and Kyrgyzstan, but Russia offered the best conditions.
The bout between Bivol and the IBF mandatory contender in the light heavyweight division, Aiferth, will be the main event of the RCC Boxing Promotions tournament, which will take place on May 30 in Yekaterinburg. Bivol holds the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
— We considered various options. Locations in Egypt, the USA, Germany, and Kyrgyzstan were discussed. However, at the moment, our partners (RCC Boxing Promotions) offered the best conditions. Everything was agreed upon very quickly and easily, which satisfied everyone. Dmitry will be boxing in Russia — that's great. We are very happy about this. Bivol has already had many fights in the Ural region at the beginning of his career and defended the WBA title in 2021 at the RCC Boxing Promotions tournament.
I am confident that the upcoming fight will be a real event and will be held at a high level. Attitudes towards Aiferth may vary... For example, Pascal might have seen him as an easy opponent but couldn't handle him. We expect a lot from Aiferth; he will be highly motivated. We will prepare for the fight with full responsibility, — Kornilov noted in a conversation with "Match TV".
Dmitry Bivol is 35 years old, has 24 wins (12 of them by knockout), and has suffered one defeat. The 28-year-old Aiferth has 13 wins (5 by knockout) and one defeat, being the mandatory contender for the IBF world championship title.
