“Manchester United” has presented a new concept for the construction of a 100,000-seat stadium, which has been named Wembley of the North. The project will be fully funded through private investments.
The club's press service clarified that state budget funds will not be involved in the construction of the arena. Previously, co-owner Jim Ratcliffe had suggested the possibility of receiving support from the authorities; however, the management has now confirmed that the financing will be exclusively private.
Nevertheless, “Manchester United” hopes to collaborate with the government on issues related to the development of transport infrastructure around the new stadium. The club noted that improving logistics is critically important for the full functioning of the arena and the enhancement of the surrounding area.
It is expected that the construction of the stadium will take four to five years after the work begins. However, the preparatory phase, which includes acquiring land plots, obtaining permits, and attracting investments, may take another one to two years.
