The Open Championship of Kyrgyzstan in ice climbing took place at the Ak-Sai ice waterfall, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the mountaineering section "SKIF-Polytech".
More than 40 athletes representing Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Russia participated in the competition.
Eduard Kubatov, president of the Federation of Mountaineering and Sport Climbing of Kyrgyzstan, emphasized that international participation made this competition an important platform for exchanging experiences among athletes in mountain disciplines from different countries in the region.
The championship was held on specially prepared ice routes in the natural conditions of the Ak-Sai waterfall. Ice climbing is one of the most technically challenging disciplines in mountain sports, requiring high physical fitness, endurance, and precision in movements on ice, combining elements of mountaineering and sport climbing.
The organization of the championship was provided by the Directorate for Non-Olympic Sports under the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, along with the Federation of Mountaineering and Sport Climbing.
During the competition, the safety of participants was ensured by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, who were on-site and ready to respond quickly if necessary.
Nasiba Eshmuradova, the chief judge of the championship, noted that the goal of holding these competitions is to develop mountain sports in the country, support the traditions of national mountaineering, and promote a culture of safe presence in the mountains.
