Sharshenbekov won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris in the weight category up to 60 kg, and he finished the year 2024 in second place.
After nearly a year-long break, in the summer of 2025, the athlete announced his transition to the weight category up to 63 kg, where he managed to win a tournament in Poland.
However, after that, he did not compete and underwent surgery at the end of the year.
In the updated UWW ranking, his name is absent in both the 60 kg and 63 kg weight categories.
In February of this year, he participated in a training camp for the Kyrgyzstan national team in Croatia.
