The cycling team from Kyrgyzstan held its first race in Europe
On March 4, the one-day race Umag Classic took place in the Croatian city of Umag, covering a distance of 142.3 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 1200 meters.
A total of 155 riders participated in the competition, of which 133 completed the distance.
The first among Kyrgyzstani cyclists to finish was Russian Viktor Bugayenko, who took 31st place.
Daniil Zarakovsky (Russia) finished in 33rd position, Yegor Igoshchev (Russia) — in 41st, Nikita Bersenev (Russia) — in 59th, Grigory Skornyakov (Russia) — in 124th, and Mukhamed Ali Matkarimov (Kyrgyzstan) — in 132nd.
According to the Cycling Federation of Kyrgyzstan, the team's sprinter, Grigory Skornyakov, was involved in a crash at the 3.5-kilometer mark of the race.
The next start for the team is scheduled for March 8 in the city of Poreč (Croatia).
