The State Sports Agency explained why the "Spartak" stadium is closed to runners.
As specialists found out, the access restrictions are related to the need to comply with technological standards during the installation of the running tracks.
“At the moment, the first stage of laying the specialized surface has been completed on nine tracks. According to construction and international standards, this layer must be maintained for at least a year. This is an important condition for ensuring the strength and durability of the foundation,” the statement said.
The second layer of the surface, which is the finishing layer, can only be laid under favorable weather conditions when the temperature is stable and warm.
“Failure to comply with the technology or premature operation of the surface may cause its deformation, which will ultimately lead to unreasonable expenditure of budget funds,” the agency clarified.
The main works on the repair and reconstruction of the stadium were completed in 2024, after which the facility was officially put into operation. It remains to complete the installation of the running tracks in accordance with all necessary requirements.
After all stages of the technological process and the installation of the second layer are completed, the stadium will be ready to operate in normal mode in accordance with the current operational standards of the sports facility.
