The auction was organized by the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) in collaboration with TeamNL. A total of 86 items of equipment from Dutch athletes were presented at the auction, with the total amount raised for all lots reaching 275,345 euros. Lerdam's suits became the most expensive sale in the history of the auction.
This deal set a new record on the MatchWornShirt platform, surpassing the previous record set by the famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. His game shirt from the Portugal national team was sold for less than 63,000 euros. During the auction, there was a real battle for Lerdam's lot: the price rose from 8,400 to over 170,000 pounds sterling in just a few hours. The winner was a private collector from the Netherlands.
All proceeds from the sale will be directed to the IJsvereniging Pijnacker club, which was Lerdam's starting point in speed skating during her childhood. Club representatives have already stated their intention to discuss with the athlete's family how the raised funds will be used. Among other lots at the auction were suits from Femke Kok and Kjeld Nuis, but their final prices significantly lagged behind Lerdam's record.
