With 14 seconds left in the match, the Kazakh was leading 9:5, but the Kyrgyzstani managed to first earn two points and get behind his opponent, and then, with one second left before the final whistle, executed a throw for 4 points.
Aliyev attempted to challenge the referee's decision, but the challenge was unsuccessful.
As a result, the match ended with a score of 12:9 in favor of Akmataliev, securing him a place in the final.
In the same weight category, two more wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan competed — Zalkarbek Tabaldiev and Rustam Kakharo, who faced each other in the 1/8 finals.
Tabaldiev won and advanced to the semifinals, where he lost to an athlete from the USA, who will ultimately meet Akmataliev in the final match.
Zalkarbek Tabaldiev will now compete for the bronze medal against a Mexican wrestler who lost consciousness twice during his quarterfinal match against the American.
Rustam Kakharo exited the competition, unable to continue fighting for medals.
