Aynura Medetova, head of the social and economic development department of the Ala-Buginsky Ayil District administration, reported that in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on February 23, Kamchy received a cash prize of 30,000 soms and an honorary title. Wrestlers who became prize winners at the international grappling tournament last week were also awarded.
Turmush previously reported that at the international grappling championship held in Bishkek, 9 wrestlers from this sports club participated, five of whom took prize-winning places. Kamchy Tolopaldy uulu himself competed in the international freestyle wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 78 kg and became the champion.
The winners were ceremoniously welcomed by their fellow countrymen: according to tradition, Kamchy was gifted a horse, and he also received 20,000 soms and other prizes from the district administration.
At the same time, Kamchy Tolopaldy uulu appealed to the authorities with a request to build a modern sports hall in his village. "The current facility we use was previously a hospital and then a kindergarten. It is heavily worn out, lacks heating, and the roof leaks during rains — in fact, this building has become unusable. In 2018, with the support of local residents and the then head of the ayil okmotu, Gulmayram Uchugonova, we carried out repairs and opened a grappling hall named after Yrysbek uulu Turatbek. Since then, between 50 and 70 children have been training with us. We are achieving success, but the old building creates many problems, and it is too small. If the authorities could help and build a new sports hall, we would have a better chance of raising future champions," noted Kamchybek Tolopaldy uulu.
