Duyshebaev is an Olympic gold medalist (1992), world champion (1993), and a medalist in European Championships and the Olympic Games. He has achieved success in the Champions League both as a player and as a head coach.
In the summer of 2023, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the European Handball Federation (EHF).
