Eden Hazard, who was once a key figure in the Belgian national team, spoke about how his life has changed after leaving professional sports. The former Real Madrid player noted that family now comes first for him, rather than sports.
Currently, Hazard lives in Spain and has no plans to return to his homeland, explaining this choice as being in favor of his children and a more comfortable climate, as well as a desire for a peaceful life after many years spent under the pressure of the professional football world.
"Time flies unnoticed. Yesterday I was 19, and today I am already 35. We need to enjoy not only football but everything that surrounds us," he shared his thoughts.
"Right now, I am more of a taxi driver than a footballer."
Hazard is raising five children and actively participates in their lives, driving them to school and various activities.
"At the moment, I play more of a taxi driver role than as a professional player, but I am very happy," he added with humor.
According to the Belgian, he has no regrets about ending his career and enjoys the absence of pressure associated with match schedules.
Hazard also recalled the 2018 World Cup when Belgium lost to France in the semifinals. He still considers that team one of the best in the country's history and is proud of his performance.
Despite retiring from his career, the former European football star continues to maintain good physical shape, spends quality time with his family, and has no intention of returning to professional play, preferring a measured lifestyle away from the football fields.
