An official statement regarding the application to host the final stage of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup in 2028 has been made by the Kyrgyz Football Union, which has appealed to the Asian Football Confederation.

Sixteen teams will participate in the competition, which will go through qualifying rounds.

Applications to host the tournament have also been submitted by Jordan, Japan, Qatar, the UAE, and Uzbekistan.

AFC representatives plan to conduct an inspection visit from March 2 to 6 to assess the infrastructure and preparedness of Kyrgyzstan. Based on the results of this inspection and the submitted documents, a final decision will be made regarding the host country of the tournament, informs the KFU.

The U-23 Asian Cup has been held six times previously, with host countries including Oman (2013), Qatar (2016, 2024), China (2016), Thailand (2020), Uzbekistan (2022), and Saudi Arabia (2026).

Kyrgyzstan has managed to reach the final stage of the U-23 Asian Cup once; however, in Saudi Arabia, the team was unable to advance past the group stage.
