Erlan Sherov won gold at the European Cup in Slovenia

A judoka from Kyrgyzstan, Erlan Sherov, became the champion of one of the stages of the European Cup, which took place in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, on February 14-15.

In the competition in the weight category up to 90 kg, 48 athletes participated, and Erlan received the first seed, allowing him to start his fight from the round of 16.

The path to the final was successful for the Kyrgyzstani: he achieved three consecutive victories over opponents from Belgium, Lithuania, and Egypt.

In the decisive match, Sherov faced David Karapetyan, the Russian youth European champion of 2020, and won by securing an ippon.

Erbol Abasbekov and Khanbolot Yrysbekov also competed in this tournament, both in the 66 kg category, but they were unable to win medals.
