Julia Simon wins her second Olympic gold after a theft conviction

At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Julia Simon, representing France, won her second gold medal by taking first place in the individual 15 km race.

The 29-year-old athlete delivered an impressive performance, with only one missed shot, allowing her to surpass her compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot. The bronze medal went to Bulgarian athlete Laura Christova.

This victory came shortly after Simon received a suspended sentence and a fine for stealing funds from her teammate Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and a team member. Despite a temporary disqualification, she was able to quickly return to competition and achieve success.

After finishing, Julia noted that the internal conflicts within the team had been resolved, and she is now fully focused on her performances.
