Raducanu suffered a crushing defeat in her first final since 2021

In Cluj-Napoca at the Transylvania Open, Emma Raducanu, who had not reached a final since her victory at the US Open in 2021, suffered a devastating defeat to Sorana Cirstea with a score of 0:6, 2:6.

Issues with her physical condition may have played a key role in the British player's performance, as she had played five matches in the week leading up to the final. At the beginning of the second set, she required medical assistance to check her blood pressure, and throughout the match, it was evident that she was experiencing fatigue. The total duration of the match was only 63 minutes.

Sorana Cirstea, 35, confidently controlled the situation on the court and finished the tournament without losing a set, claiming the title on home soil.

Despite the setback, Emma Raducanu will rise to 25th place in the world rankings. Her next tournament will be the WTA 1000 in Doha, where she will face Camila Osorio in the first round.
