Athletes from different countries paraded not only in Milan but also in cities such as Cortina d'Ampezzo, Livigno, and Predazzo. The theme of the opening was Armonia ("Harmony").
The Olympic flame was lit in Milan at the Peace Park and in Cortina d'Ampezzo at the Dibon Square.
The Winter Olympic Games began on February 6, with Kyrgyzstan represented by two 19-year-old athletes: Artur Saparbekov and Timur Shakirov.
Artur Saparbekov will compete in cross-country skiing, with his events including the classic sprint on February 10 and the freestyle sprint on February 13. Timur Shakirov, in turn, will participate in alpine skiing disciplines: the giant slalom on February 14 and the slalom on February 16.
The Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo will conclude on February 22.
