The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has appealed to Ukrainian athletes to refrain from holding protest actions against athletes from Russia at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. This was reported by Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladislav Geraskevich.

“We received a communication from the IOC regarding the Olympic Games, asking us not to organize any actions. They contacted the Ukrainian side about possible protests,” he explained.

The IOC emphasized that the Olympic Charter prohibits any demonstrations during the Games.

In January of this year, the junior national team of Ukraine in skeleton already held a protest action at the European Cup stage in Innsbruck, expressing dissatisfaction with the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the Olympic Games.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games will take place in Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026, and the Winter Paralympic Games from March 6 to 15. A total of 2,871 athletes from 93 countries are expected to participate, competing for 116 sets of medals in 16 disciplines.
