At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Culture and Education, the Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, announced the upcoming reconstruction of the Sports Palace named after Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul in Bishkek. This decision was made at the request of the country's president, Sadyr Japarov.
Deputy Bolot Saginayev noted that sports facilities in Kyrgyzstan are actively being updated, and new ones are being built, which indicates the development of the sports sector.
Saginayev emphasized that despite its central location, the Sports Palace is in unsatisfactory condition. "This is the only Olympic-standard swimming pool here. Therefore, it is important for the Palace to be financially self-sufficient, and it is also necessary to renovate the swimming pool, football field, and sauna," he added.
Moldazhiyev also reported that President Japarov instructed to start repair work at the Palace during the opening ceremony of the "Zhashtyk Arena".
"Immediately after the opening, the president ordered the repair and reconstruction of the Sports Palace, integrating it with the 'Zhashtyk Arena'. The status of the building will remain the same. The head of state asked Mayor Aibek Junushaliev to find funding. Currently, we are actively cooperating with the mayor's office to include this project in the plans for this year, and we hope that the work will begin soon," he added.
