Celtic Sacks Wilfried Nancy After Disastrous Start to the Season
The reason for such a quick parting was the team's results, including a recent 3:1 defeat to Rangers, despite Celtic leading 1:0 at halftime. Currently, the team is in a trailing position, six points behind Hearts in the Scottish Premier League and has failed in the League Cup final, losing to St. Mirren.
Nancy, a 48-year-old Frenchman, leaves the club with a disappointing record: under his leadership, the team won only two out of eight matches, while losing six times, including a crushing 0:3 defeat to Roma in the Europa League.
In the context of this negative outcome, it is worth noting that his predecessor, Martin O'Neill, who temporarily took over as head coach, won seven out of eight matches. This created a sharp contrast with Nancy's results, and the club may turn to O'Neill again in search of stability.
Nancy was also accompanied out of the club by his assistants Kwame Ampadu, Jules Géguen, and Max Chalmé, as well as Director of Football Operations Paul Tisdale. The club expressed gratitude to Nancy for his work and wished him luck in the future.
