"Manchester United" has dismissed Ruben Amorim
"Manchester United" has announced the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, who held the position of head coach for 14 months. This decision was made against the backdrop of the team's unstable results and came the day after a draw with "Leeds United" (1:1), after which the Portuguese specialist made emotional statements about his future.
In the club's official press release, it is noted that considering the current sixth place in the Premier League, the management deemed it necessary to make changes to increase the chances of a successful season finish. After 20 matches, "United" is 17 points behind the leader "Arsenal".
Amorim was appointed head coach in November 2024, replacing Erik ten Hag. His first season ended in 15th place in the EPL, marking the club's worst result since 1974, as well as a defeat in the Europa League final against "Tottenham".
Under his leadership, "Manchester United" played 63 matches, winning 24, drawing 18, and losing 21. The win percentage in the Premier League was 32%, the worst record among the club's coaches in Premier League history.
The next match against "Burnley" will be played under the guidance of Darren Fletcher, who is temporarily acting as head coach. The club has already begun the process of searching for a new manager.
Since Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, "Manchester United" has changed several coaches, but the last championship title the club won was 13 years ago.
