On April 21, the XIV International Short Film Festival will open in Bishkek, featuring works from CIS countries, the Baltics, and Georgia. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 at the "Ala-Too" cinema, as reported by the event organizers.

This year, the festival has gathered over 900 applications from directors from various countries, highlighting the growing interest in the event on the international stage.

The festival is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous filmmaker Algimantas Vidugiris, and the organizers emphasize the importance of preserving cultural memory and reflecting on historical heritage through the art of cinema.

Two competitive categories are planned within the festival: international and national. The international competition includes 14 films, while the national program will showcase 15 best short films by Kyrgyz directors. Audiences will be able to see feature, documentary, animated, and experimental films.

Over the years, the festival has established itself as an important event in the cultural life of Bishkek and has become a platform for professional exchange of opinions. During the event, directors, producers, and experts share their works, experiences, and discuss current trends in the film industry.

The main goal of the festival is to support young authors, develop audience culture, and strengthen cultural ties between different countries.

This event is supported by the Intergovernmental Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS countries, the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Public Fund "Cultural Cooperation Fund."
