A representative of the Houthis stated that the targets of their attack were "sensitive" military sites in Israel, adding that this action is in support of Tehran and allied groups in Lebanon, Iraq, and the Palestinian territories.
The activation of Yemen in military actions poses a threat to maritime shipping towards the Suez Canal. Earlier, Iran effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil volume passes.
- The conflict in Yemen, which began in 2014, has become part of a broader confrontation in the Middle East between pro-Iranian forces and the allies of Saudi Arabia and the USA. This confrontation has led to the division of the country into northern and western regions controlled by the Houthis, and a southern region governed by the internationally recognized government and its allies.
- Interaction between Israel and the USA regarding Iran began on February 28 with large-scale air and missile attacks on Iranian cities and military sites. US President Donald Trump called this operation "Epic Fury." In response, Tehran began attacking Israel and American bases in several countries in the Middle East, as well as blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
- As a result of the attacks in Iran, many high-ranking officials and military personnel were killed, including the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. After his death, his son Mojtaba Khamenei took over the position.
