Two outstanding Nobel Prize laureates — Chinese writer Mo Yan and biochemist Aziz Sancar — have confirmed their participation in the anniversary celebrations of the Issyk-Kul International Forum. This was announced on March 27 by Oktay Kapalbaev, head of the Department of Policy Development, Monitoring, and Analysis of Political and Economic Reforms at the Presidential Administration.

The anniversary event is scheduled for June 2026. The forum, established in 1986 at the initiative of Chyngyz Aitmatov, has become an important international platform for discussing pressing global issues.

A scientific conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Chyngyz Aitmatov and the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum took place in the city of Manas, where Kapalbaev shared news about the upcoming anniversary.

He noted that both Mo Yan, the Nobel Prize laureate in Literature in 2012, and Aziz Sancar, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2015, have confirmed their participation in the forum. In his speech, he also discussed the progress of preparations for the anniversary and the importance of this event in modern conditions.

Preparations for the anniversary are being carried out in accordance with the directives of the president issued in 2025. Funding is provided from the republican budget, and the coordination of work is entrusted to the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy.
Aziz Sancar is a world-renowned scientist specializing in DNA repair mechanisms. He is considered the first Nobel Prize laureate in the natural sciences from the Turkic world. His discoveries in the treatment of cancer are widely covered in international scientific sources and media.
