Overdid it: residents of 'Alamedin-1' and 'Uchkyn' were left not only without trees but also without light

Municipal employees damaged a cable and quickly left the scene.

Yesterday, there was a power outage in the neighborhoods of 'Alamedin-1' and 'Uchkyn', as reported by local residents.

As the citizens found out, the outage occurred as a result of tree-cutting work carried out by municipal services. During the removal of a stump, the workers accidentally damaged an electrical cable.

“After that, they immediately left, leaving us without light,” residents expressed their dissatisfaction.

As a result, a large part of the area was left without electricity; however, the workers of the Eastern Electric Network managed to partially restore power supply.

It is worth noting that the cutting down of trees and shrubs in Bishkek is done, as city authorities claim, to improve the landscaping of the area. Residents are asked to be patient, asserting that old and sick trees will be replaced with new saplings. Shrubs are being cut down as part of a project to create "open spaces," aimed at improving the appearance of lawns.

Local residents express confusion regarding the violation of ecological and sanitary norms. Furthermore, even if the new saplings take root, it will take many years before they can provide shade and purify the air, as adult trees that have been cut down do. The condition of the lawns is also a concern – without shrubs, the ground is heavily trampled or used as parking lots.
