
At the Academy of the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, a round table was held on the topic: “The Current Operational Situation in the Fight Against International Terrorism and Religious Extremism in Kyrgyzstan: The Impact of the Situation in the Middle East on the Religious Atmosphere in the Country, as well as Forecasts for the Medium and Long-Term Perspective.”
As reported by the press service of the National Security Committee, representatives from various agencies participated in the event, including the Anti-Terrorism Center, the Main Directorate for Combating International Terrorism and Religious Extremism, as well as the Main Intelligence and Counterintelligence Directorates. Specialists from the territorial divisions of the National Security Committee were also invited.
During the discussion, participants examined the current situation in the country related to international terrorism and religious extremism. The topics of rehabilitation and adaptation of repatriates returning from conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, as well as their integration into the social life of Kyrgyzstan, became important points of discussion.
The discussion also addressed the influence of crises in the Middle Eastern region on the religious and political situation in Kyrgyzstan. Experts specializing in the Middle East presented their analytical studies on how the ideology of terrorist groups is changing in the new geopolitical conditions and the potential risks of spreading destructive ideas through migration and information channels.
During the constructive dialogue, forecasts were voiced regarding the development of the situation in the medium and long-term perspectives. All participants noted the importance of such discussion platforms based at the Academy of the National Security Committee, which contribute to the unification of efforts from state structures, scholars, and religious leaders to develop joint approaches to ensuring national security.
