In 2025, about 170 thousand Kyrgyz citizens went abroad for work

In 2025, the number of Kyrgyz citizens who went abroad in search of work reached about 170 thousand. This information was announced by Esenbek Ergeshov, head of the Labor Migration Department of the center, during a live broadcast on Birinchi Radio.
According to him, out of the total number, approximately 25 thousand people were employed with the help of the center and private agencies: 5,500 through the center and 19,500 through agencies.
“This is only 15% of the total number of migrants. The remaining 85% leave independently, relying on their own resources, connections, and 'word of mouth.' Unfortunately, such people often face difficulties and become victims of labor exploitation or human trafficking. Unlike them, we monitor those who leave through our center until their return,” Ergeshov noted.
He also reported positive dynamics in the country. If five years ago about a million people left for work each year, now many of them are returning, which is related to the improvement of the socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan.
“Previously, Kyrgyzstan was a labor-exporting country, but now we are starting to accept foreign citizens to work on our territory,” he added.
