Almost 25% of companies do not use specialized methods to attract young specialists, despite their shortage.
The shortage of young professionals continues to be a pressing issue in Kyrgyzstan. According to an analytical report developed by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration as part of the World Bank project "Strengthening Social Assistance and Labor Market Programs," about 24.5% of enterprises do not apply targeted strategies to attract youth.
The study also showed that employers in Bishkek and the Talas region are more active in working with youth, offering various internships, practical training, and career growth opportunities.
“Overall in the country, internships and practical training remain the most popular tools used by 27.7% to 40.7% of companies. However, in the Chui region, this figure is significantly lower — only 15.2%. Additionally, employers offer flexible schedules, on-the-job training, participation in job fairs, collaboration with employment centers, and social packages. Nevertheless, part of the hiring is still done through informal channels,” the Ministry of Labor points out.
According to the data, interest in developing young specialists is gradually increasing: such opportunities are offered by 25.4% of employers in Bishkek and over 22% in the Talas and Chui regions.
With the support of the World Bank, the Ministry is implementing the "Youth Internship" program, which is designed to help young people aged 16 to 35 gain their first work experience. The program has already covered 30 pilot cities and regions: participants receive a stipend and have a chance for permanent employment upon completion of the internship.
