In honor of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr, Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached an agreement for a temporary ceasefire. This was reported by the Pakistani publication Dawn.

Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that this decision was initiated by Islamabad and supported by several other Muslim countries.

“In connection with the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the authorities of Pakistan are announcing a temporary pause in the operation ‘Ghazab lil-Haq,’ aimed at terrorist groups and their infrastructure in Afghanistan,” he noted.
The ceasefire will be in effect from March 19 to March 24, starting at midnight and ending at midnight on the last day.
It is important to note that Pakistan has warned that in the event of attacks from Afghanistan, military actions will be resumed immediately.

Afghan authorities have also expressed their readiness to suspend hostilities. A representative of the Taliban movement, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that this decision was made in response to appeals from other Muslim countries.

It should be reminded that tensions between the countries escalated on February 22, when Pakistan struck positions of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan group. In response, Taliban forces intensified their actions in the border areas of Pakistan.
