The report presents a detailed analysis of the concentration levels of fine particulate matter PM2.5 in the capital and Osh, as well as recommendations for improving the environmental situation.
According to the report's findings, air pollution exhibits pronounced seasonality, particularly noticeable during the heating season.
- In Bishkek, approximately 120 days were recorded with exceedances of established norms, with the highest pollution recorded on December 24, 2024 — 11 times above the government standard.
- In Osh, the air pollution situation is more prolonged: out of 336 days, exceedances were observed for 159. Unlike the capital, pollution was recorded throughout the year, with an annual average concentration of about 74 µg/m³. This is nearly 5 times higher than the government standard and 15 times higher than the standard set by the World Health Organization.
To address the environmental issue, MoveGreen proposes to develop green technologies, clean public transport, urban greening, and expand the monitoring system with open access to data.
