In the Tyup district, over the past 10 days, the price of milk has dropped by 5 soms, local residents reported to the Turmush correspondent.

According to them, the reasons for this decline remain unclear. While during the winter period the cost of one liter of milk was estimated at 40 soms for wholesale purchases, currently, buyers are accepting it at 35 soms for further delivery to processing plants.

“Every year in winter, we rejoice at the rise in milk prices, but with the arrival of spring, they fall again. In March, the price first dropped to 38 soms, and then quickly fell to 35. The reason for this is still unclear. At the same time, in central stores, a liter of whole milk is sold for 50 soms. For example, 700 grams of butter costs 540 soms, and 300 grams of sour cream — 95 soms. Meanwhile, factory dairy products do not decrease in price following the drop in purchase prices,” shared the residents of the Tyup district.

In contrast to milk, the price of meat has increased by about 20 soms. Sellers attribute this to the rising cost of livestock in the markets.

“In the district center of Tyup, residents mainly buy beef. The demand for lamb and horse meat is correspondingly lower. Over the past two weeks, livestock prices have risen, causing the price of meat to increase by 20 soms. Currently, a kilogram is sold for 690–700 soms,” local residents report. Notably, against the backdrop of rumors about diseases among cattle, many buyers this year prefer lamb and horse meat.

Sellers note that stable prices for lamb correspond to the norms established by the government (680 soms). However, over the past 4–5 days, the price of premium meat has increased by 10 soms due to a reduction in the number of fattened livestock — some animals have already been moved to summer pastures.

The city veterinary and livestock development department confirms that the epidemiological situation in the region is stable. Each carcass that enters the market undergoes thorough inspection. “A specialized laboratory operates in the market, and all products undergo veterinary and sanitary examination. For example, in February, 777 cattle carcasses and 210 horse carcasses were put up for sale. In the event of parasitic diseases, such as alveococcosis or echinococcosis, infected areas are immediately removed and disposed of in special animal burial sites. Sale is permitted only with a veterinary stamp,” said the head of the service, Tilek Ishembayev.

Currently, planned veterinary activities are being conducted in the city before livestock is sent to the summer pastures. So far, vaccinations have been carried out for:

- 978 heads — against emphysematous carbuncle (“kara san”);

- 970 heads — against pasteurellosis;

- 1940 heads — against foot-and-mouth disease.

Additionally, blood samples were taken from 120 heads of livestock for laboratory research. Preventive measures are ongoing.
