What does Eid al-Fitr represent?
It is a time for spiritual purification, generosity, family unity, and gratitude. On this day, people gather together, pray, exchange gifts and greetings, treat their loved ones to delicious dishes, and provide assistance to those in need.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day after the conclusion of Ramadan. Since the date depends on the new moon, it shifts each year according to the Gregorian calendar.
How to prepare for the holiday?
The day before Eid al-Fitr is called "Arapa." During this time, it is customary to:
- prepare "boorsoks" (fried dough balls);
- clean the house;
- prepare outfits for the whole family;
- if possible, prepare gifts.

How to properly celebrate the holiday?
The celebration begins early in the morning. Believers perform ablution, dress in clean and beautiful clothes, and head to the festive prayer — Eid prayer. Before the prayer, it is customary to give alms — sadaqa or fitr-sadaqa, to help those in need and share the joy of the holiday.
On this day, Muslims strive to show generosity and care for the poor.
Sadaqa on Eid al-Fitr serves as a reminder of gratitude to the Almighty for the completion of fasting. By helping others, believers share their joy with those who need support.
What is allowed to do on Eid al-Fitr:
- receive guests and hold family celebrations;
- give gifts and sweets to children and loved ones;
- participate in prayers and charitable actions;
- wear festive outfits and rejoice together with family.
What is prohibited on Eid al-Fitr?
On this day, fasting is not allowed, so it should be suspended. If it is necessary to make up for missed days, this can be done after the holiday.
Quarreling, conflicts, and displays of anger are unacceptable — this day is considered a time for forgiveness.
Ignoring those in need is also not permissible — helping the poor and giving alms are mandatory if there is financial capability.
The consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
