"Traffic inspectors need to stop asking doctors not to register traffic accidents, - deputy prosecutor"
He noted that employees responsible for road safety sometimes approach hospitals with requests not to record traffic accidents, which distorts reality. “It is necessary for the real picture to be visible. Inspectors should stop such practices,” said Zamirbek.
During his speech, he provided sad statistics from the past year: 742 traffic accidents occurred in the Jalal-Abad region, resulting in the deaths of 177 people, while more than 1,000 sustained injuries of varying severity.
Additionally, the Deputy Prosecutor cited a specific case. On January 2, 2026, in the village of Toluk in the Toktogul district, a traffic accident occurred in which a 7th grader sledding was hit by a car. The child was taken to the hospital; however, the district officer refused to register the incident until the boy was in intensive care.
“I urge traffic police inspectors: stop asking doctors not to record traffic accidents. This especially applies to the leadership. It is necessary for the real situation to be reflected,” he emphasized.
The Presidential Representative in the Jalal-Abad region, Tilek Tekebaev, also commented on this issue, questioning the leadership of the traffic safety department of the Internal Affairs Directorate: “Why are employees trying to convince medical staff not to register incidents if 177 people died in traffic accidents? This is a question we need an answer to.”
Manas Sydygaliev, head of the traffic safety department of the regional Internal Affairs Directorate, agreed with the stated facts and noted: “Such cases can occur. We take measures against inspectors when the number of traffic accidents increases. This is one of the reasons why the situation is developing this way. We will work to correct this.”
Furthermore, the Deputy Prosecutor provided another example of crime concealment: residents of the village of Taran-Bazar in the Suzak district repeatedly reported the loss of livestock, but these facts were not registered.
At the coordination council, it became known that in the unified register of crimes for the past year, 25,677 statements and reports were registered. Criminal cases were initiated for 3,229 incidents, while more than 18,000 were denied initiation. This is 2,725 cases more than in 2024, indicating a rise in the crime rate.
