The Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan proposes to adopt a new constitutional law that will regulate the status of the World Nomad Games. The draft law is currently in the stage of public discussion.

It is noted that the current legislation of the country only partially addresses issues related to culture, sports, and intangible heritage, failing to provide Kyrgyzstan with the proper international status as a center for the preservation of nomadic civilizations.

According to information from the ministry, the World Nomad Games, which were proposed by Kyrgyzstan, quickly gained international recognition and became an important tool of cultural diplomacy, contributing to the improvement of the country's image on the global stage.

In December 2025, the exclusive rights to the trademark World Nomad Games were transferred to the ownership of the Kyrgyz Republic and officially registered. This created a legal basis for the further development of the games at the state level, as the ministry believes.

It is also important to note that the World Games are held under the auspices of Kyrgyzstan and unite many countries and peoples connected with nomadic culture. The government is making organizational decisions to prepare for the upcoming competitions, but these are temporary.

The authors of the initiative emphasize the need to adopt a separate constitutional law that would enshrine the status of the Games and create a sustainable legal framework for their future development.

The draft law proposes to establish the legal status of Kyrgyzstan as the spiritual and coordinating center of the World Nomad Games, as well as to protect the name, symbols, and methodology of this project.

Additionally, the bill provides for the possibility of transferring the right to host the Games to other countries based on international agreements, while control should remain with Kyrgyzstan as the initiator of the project. Competitions are planned to be held every two years, alternating between host countries.

The ministry emphasizes that the adoption of this law will help transition from temporary management of the Games to a more sustainable system for their conduct, and will also contribute to the development of cultural tourism, ethno-sports, and international cultural cooperation.

Let us recall that the World Nomad Games were founded in Kyrgyzstan in 2012, and the first competitions took place in 2014 on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. Since then, they have become one of the most significant international projects aimed at preserving the culture of nomadic peoples.
