International Standards are Being Implemented in the Pharmaceutical Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic

From March 10 to 12, 2026, Bishkek will host a mission of international experts from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

According to available data, the mission's goal is to support the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Kyrgyzstan, as well as to implement international standards of good manufacturing practice (GMP). This mission is part of the UNIDO Country Partnership Program covering the years 2025–2029, where the pharmaceutical sector is highlighted as a key area of strategic interaction with the government of the country.

On the first day of their work, the experts held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Ministry of Health, as well as with the leadership of leading pharmaceutical companies in the country. During the discussions, the focus was on issues related to industry development, compliance with the Eurasian Economic Union's GMP standards, and mechanisms for supporting the modernization of drug production.

Technical visits to pharmaceutical enterprises are also planned as part of the mission to assess the level of GMP standards implementation and identify needs for technical and expert assistance.

On March 12, a concluding meeting of the mission will take place, during which further steps for cooperation will be determined and an initiative for technical support aimed at strengthening the production capacity of Kyrgyzstan's pharmaceutical sector will be prepared.
