There Aren't Enough Parking Spaces. How Bishkek Plans to Solve the Problem

“The number of cars significantly exceeds the capacity of the narrow streets, which were not designed for such a number of vehicles. We are making efforts to solve this problem. Previously, we had agreements with private tenants who managed the parking and collected fees. Now we plan to automate the process to eliminate chaotic parking. By 2026, we plan to install 1,000 QR codes, which will simplify the process for drivers and ensure direct transfer of funds to the city budget,” noted Imanaliev.
He also reported on plans to construct multi-level parking lots this year.
“Construction has already begun at the Alamedin and Orto-Sai markets. By the end of the month, a parking lot for 252 spaces will be opened at Orto-Sai. We have compiled a list of additional locations for the construction of multi-level parking lots,” the specialist added.
