What is solar activation and how does it affect Earth

On March 9, employees of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported observations of dark spots on the left edge of the Sun, slightly above its equator.
Scientists also noted that solar activity is increasing and predicted that in 2035, 2046, and 2057, the next cycles may be more intense than the current one.

“This may affect the functioning of satellites, navigation systems, and the state of the ionosphere, so it is important to be prepared for changes caused by solar activity,” the experts added.
In this regard, the agency "Kabar" decided to investigate the causes of this phenomenon and its potential impact on people.

Samad Toktogonov, dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electronics at the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, explained that solar activation is a natural and cyclical process with a period of about 11 years.

“This does not pose a threat to Earth. Activity can vary, and during periods of increased activity, the greatest impact is felt by space stations that are not sufficiently protected,” he noted.
“The Earth is protected by the ionosphere and ozone layer. During periods of high solar activity, some of its effects may reach the planet, but mainly they only affect communication technologies,” the expert added.
“Such technologies include mobile networks as well as television and radio broadcasting systems that use radio waves. Specialists are well aware of how to protect these systems in such situations, so there is no danger,” he emphasized.
Solar spots are areas on the surface of the Sun that arise due to the concentration of magnetic fields. These areas appear darker due to lower temperatures compared to the surrounding environment.

Solar spots indicate high magnetic activity and are sometimes accompanied by solar flares.
