In the mountains of the Chui region, a porcupine was encountered
As Vasily Zaitsev recounted, while returning from the mountains, they noticed the porcupine on the road. "The headlights illuminated the porcupine. Caught in the beam of light, it was not frightened and behaved calmly. We watched it for a while until it disappeared into the darkness," Zaitsev added.
In Kyrgyzstan, porcupines are under state protection, and their capture is prohibited.
On April 17, 2024, wildlife expert Kanibek Rayimkulov, ranger Adyl Baatyrbek uulu, and inspector of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision D. Joobarasov conducted a raid in the "Belen-Teke" reserve, located 60-80 km from the capital.
During the raid, employees of the Chui Regional Department noticed a snow leopard moving along the road. Upon seeing people, it got scared and ran into the mountains.
Additionally, the rangers reported the presence of deer grazing 500 meters from the snow leopard.
