The Ig Nobel Prize Will No Longer Be Awarded in the USA
The reason for this decision was the tightening of immigration policies implemented by the administration of President Donald Trump.
The editor of the magazine and host of the ceremony, Mark Abrahams, noted: “Over the past year, visiting the country has become unsafe for our guests. We cannot invite laureates and journalists from other countries to come to the U.S. this year.” Previously, the ceremony took place in September at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Boston University. However, last year, four out of ten laureates declined to travel to Boston.
Now, the award ceremony will move to Zurich and other cities in Europe.
