The Ministry of Energy has shared information about its tariff policy. According to the agency, for a long time, electricity prices in the country were below the actual cost of production. This difference was compensated by the state budget, which created financial problems for the energy sector.

“In recent years, significant changes have been occurring in our energy sector. This became particularly noticeable after the revision of the tariff policy last year, which spurred the acceleration of infrastructure and technical base renewal. Currently, electricity is perceived not just as a service, but as the foundation of the country's economic security,” emphasized representatives of the Ministry of Energy.

The ministry focuses on the modernization of electrical networks. “In various regions, old transformers have been replaced and substations updated. Automated management systems are being implemented, which helps reduce the number of emergency outages. Thanks to these measures, the reliability of electricity supply has significantly increased. Additionally, modern meters are being installed and digital control mechanisms are being developed to reduce technical losses. According to experts, such initiatives contribute to more rational electricity consumption and transparency in the operation of the entire system,” the statement reads.

According to the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan, a significant amount of funds was invested last year in updating production equipment and capital repairs. Key facilities have been reconstructed, which has improved the reliability of electricity production and reduced the number of accidents.

These achievements have been made possible due to the adjustment of the tariff policy. The ministry reminded that from May 1, 2025, the tariff for the population increased from 1.11 soms to 1.37 soms per kWh, which is an increase of 23.8%. This increase did not critically impact family budgets but provided additional resources for sector modernization.

“These small additional revenues have allowed the energy sector to implement large-scale investment and technical projects,” the agency noted.
