Due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, the Philippine authorities have decided to implement a four-day workweek aimed at saving electricity. This was reported by Bloomberg.

Starting March 9, many government institutions will begin operating under the new schedule. This decision was made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. against the backdrop of rising global fuel prices caused by the conflict in the Gulf.

It is important to note that emergency services, such as police and firefighters, will continue to operate as usual and will not be subject to changes in the schedule.

The president stated: “The reduction of the workweek will be a temporary measure and will not affect those who provide emergency services, including police and firefighters, who ensure public safety.”
Additionally, government institutions have been urged to reduce electricity and fuel consumption by 10-20%.
At the same time, experts predict a sharp rise in oil prices, primarily due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatar's Minister of Energy Saad al-Kaabi warned that soon all energy exporters in the Persian Gulf will declare force majeure, which could lead to oil prices rising to $150 per barrel.
