At a meeting attended by local authorities led by Azizbek Adylbekov — head of the international cooperation, investment, and tourism sector — important issues were discussed with international organizations and diplomats. Among the participants were the Consul General of Russia in Osh, Roman Svistin, as well as representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Oleg Guchgeldiev and the OSCE Dmitry Prudskikh.

During the negotiations, the focus was on expanding climate-resilient practices, effective water resource management, and modernizing irrigation infrastructure. Strengthening cooperation within the project for the creation of artificial glaciers and developing new joint initiatives was also discussed.
After the discussions, the delegation participants headed to the artificial glacier located in the Aina-Tash gorge, near the village of Kok-Tash in the Leilek district.
Artificial glaciers represent an innovative method that allows for the accumulation of water during the winter period for later use in irrigating agricultural fields in spring and summer. This technology is becoming particularly significant in areas with water resource shortages.
To date, seven such artificial glaciers have been built in the Batken region, located in the villages of Gaz, Sogment, Bulak-Bashy, and Kainy in the Batken district, as well as in Aibiyke, Kok-Tash, and Sumbula in the Leilek district.
As a result of the winter season, more than 1.5 million cubic meters of water have been accumulated.
This project is supported by international partners and aims at the sustainable development of the region, as well as adaptation to climate change.
