In light of the current events in the Middle East, the UAE authorities have issued instructions to hotels to extend the stay of guests whose check-out date has already passed, without charging additional fees. If you find yourself in a situation of eviction or are being prepared for eviction, follow these instructions.
- Stay calm and politely inform them of your right to continue your stay. Explain to the reception staff or managers that according to the UAE authorities' instructions, your stay should be extended without payment for the duration of the restrictions.
- Do not leave your room voluntarily. Refrain from packing your belongings and signing any check-out documents until you are offered alternative accommodation and the reasons for eviction are explained to you.
- Request to speak with a responsible person. Ask hotel staff to call a manager and record your request for an extension of stay in the hotel log.
- If you are being pressured, insist on calling the police. The emergency number is 999.
- If the hotel insists on eviction, call the police yourself or ask hotel staff to contact law enforcement to officially document the situation.
- Do not pay for your stay out of your own pocket. Usually, if you pay for your stay yourself, the money is not refunded.
- Document what is happening. Take photos and videos: the hotel name, reception area, notifications, correspondence, and invoices. Record the name of the staff member demanding eviction and keep all receipts and documents.
- Immediately contact the embassy or consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic. Provide the hotel name, its address, room number, your full name, phone number, number of people with you (including children and elderly), and the hotel’s demands (eviction, payment, or relocation).
- If you have already been evicted, try to remain in the lobby or on the hotel premises until the police arrive or the situation is resolved with hotel management. Also, contact foreign institutions and inform them of all the details.
