At the racetrack in Tokmok, located in the Chuy region, traditional regional competitions were held, featuring Kyrgyz taigans. This was reported by Talai Shukurov, the chairman of the Kyrgyz Taigan Federation [“Kyrgyz Taigan”], one of the organizers of the event.

According to Shukurov, such tournaments are held annually in February-March, and this year was no exception. “We evaluated the speed of the males, females, and puppies in various categories. Additionally, among the adult males, a bravery test was conducted — they were released on a wolf. The races took place over a distance of 500 meters,” he noted.
Forty-three taigans of purebred lineage participated in the tournament. Based on the results of the tests and races, winners were determined.

Results of the bravery test (wolf chase):

- 1st place: taigan Barbayan (Bishkek city);

- 2nd place: taigan Ak-Tosh (Kosh-Korgon village, Chuy district);

- 3rd place: taigan Tapancha (Kant city).

Results of the speed races among adult males (500 meters):

- 1st place: taigan Shahin (Belovodskoye village);

- 2nd place: taigan Tapancha (Kant city);

- 3rd place: taigan Orok (Bishkek city).

Results of the speed races among females:

- 1st place: taigan Strelka (Kemin district);

- 2nd place: taigan Kara-köz (Chuy district);

- 3rd place: taigan Ayan (Bishkek city).

As Shukurov noted, this event is aimed at preserving and popularizing the Kyrgyz taigan, which is an important part of the cultural heritage of nomadic peoples.
